PROBLEM SOLVING
Under this section I will present my plan for resolving any potential problems that could affect development of my project.
I will also show my research and experimentation of different skills in order to execute better project.
CONTINGENCE PLAN
It is not always possible to plan a production down to the last detail therefore you need to have a backup plan (PLAN B)
Identify things that can go wrong and what can you put in place to secure the production of the project.
Problems with noise in locations:
Most of the locations I have chosen are simple, except for the cliff edge, so there is no need for me to get authorisation to be able to film there except in Capel. The opening scene will be filmed in my bedroom, so there will be no background noise as I will make sure everyone is aware in my house that I will be filming. Although most of my locations are outside, background noise wont to a massive issue as I don’t have a script and am just putting music over the top.
Battery running out on camera:
I will make sure that the battery of the camera is fully charged before I leave to film, and I will also make sure to bring a spare. If the camera battery does run out when I am in the middle of a shoot, I will possibly return to the location a day later with the camera charged, but also a spare battery to carry on without any more disturbances.
Weather conditions:
Weather conditions is a huge deal to me as most of my scenes are filmed outside, I will make sure to check to weather a couple days before, the day before, and on the same day just to double check that its okay to go out and film. If worse comes to worse I will have to film it the day after or another day where the weather is clear, or even chose a different location if I run out of time.
Locations unavailable:
If for any reason a certain location is unavailable, due to it having work done, being too crowded, or just overall closed, I will have to come back another day or completely change my location depending on the situation.
Backup locations:
-
Dover town
-
Canterbury city centre
-
Folkestone shopping centre
-
Cliffs towards St Margaret’s
Equipment:
If it turns out that some of my equipment isn’t working correctly, or I forgot something, I ill have to go back and get it if possible or come back another day, but I have created a checklist of equipment that I will bring with me so I know I have everything.
SKILLS, DEVELOPMENT AND EXPERIMENTATION
Experimentation in the pre-production process is vital to be able to get a better idea of what you are going to produce in the end. For my experimentation, I decided to go onto Premiere Pro and play around with some sample clips I took from Pexels, to get a better understanding of how the controls work and what settings go with each other to achieve the look I want. I have very briefly used colour before for my FMP last year so I don't know much about the settings, so I went onto youtube and found a couple of videos that explain colour grading on Premier Pro pretty well:

From watching these videos it made me gain more confidence in what I wanted to experiment with. I took samples of small videos of nature from Pexels as I know one of my scenes in my FMP is in a woods, put them into a timeline, and proceeded to change the colour. I changed the faded film, vibrance, saturation and shadow tint.

I then exported it and here is the final product:
To conclude, completing this experimentation has helped me overall accomplish the look I want for the film, and also aided me in gaining more editing skills I can put to use in the future for other projects or short films. Its allowed me to further develop my skills in editing video and become more comfortable with editing in general.
